Inferno, III, 109-120.    “…quell’anime…lasse e nude …Così sen vanno su per l’onda bruna …”

The “lasse e nude” souls are ferried across Acheronte by “Caron Dimonio”. I reserved the top half of the table for the stormy weather. Faced with so much anger and despair, Dante loses consciousness. I took advantage of the”situation” by relegating him far in the background, just distinguishable, and giving the proscenium to the damned.    Behind them a weary Charon. Minimal drawing  for the river and for the terrible ship. Minimal use of ink, which I replaced with the B2 pencil then painted watercolor.
